CIHR Grants: A Major Success for the Research Centre

We are proud to announce that three researchers from the HMR Research Centre have obtained grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

Despite a lower than 20% national success rate, the HMR Research Centre obtained funding for three out of seven proposals: a 43% success rate, making it the leader among Université de Montréal Research Centres.

Funding was awarded to:

Dr. Janos Filep
Project – C-Reactive Protein: a Link Between Inflammation and Acute Coronary Artery Disease
$646,548 over 5 years

Dr. Martin Guimond
Project – Homeostatic Regulation of CD4T Cells During Lymphopenia
$573,313 $ over 5 years

Dr. Stéphane Lefrançois
Project – The Role of Palmitoylation in the Trafficking of the Lysosomal Sorting Receptors
$508,258 over 5 years

In addition to the excellent work carried out by these researchers, part of their success is attributed to the implementation of a mentoring committee, including Doctors Nathalie Labrecque, Dindial RamotarJanos Filep and Len Levin, under the leadership of Dr. Elliot Drobetsky.

Congratulations to the researchers and to their mentors!
