Ph.D. in Neuronal Death Signaling and Differentiation
Term: full time
Project description:
The Department of Ophthalmology and the Department of Pathology and Cellular Biology of the University of Montreal have a new laboratory that is looking for highly motivated graduate students, who wish to explore new frontiers in the fields of vision sciences and neurosciences. Leonard A. Levin, Associate Professor, is studying the death cell signaling mechanism following axonal damage; a common mechanism in many diseases such as glaucoma, multiple sclerosis and brain tumors that lead to irreversible blindness. He is also studying the differentiation of retinal ganglion cells using stem cells with the objective of restoring vision.
Qualifications:
M.Sc. in Biology Sciences or equivalent.
The student must be highly motivated, and demonstrate the ability to be creative and to work independently.
Grant: the candidate will be paid according to the Centre’s salary range attributed to graduate students.
